The NINDS disease list is a great resource for finding out basic information about any neurological disease or disorder.  There are over 250 disease classes, with more individual diseases.

To find information about any of these diseases, you can start typing in a disease that you would like to know more about.  Choosing the autocomplete is usually a good idea, because it gives the synonyms, many of which may not be lexical variants such as “Parkinsons disease” and “Idiopathic PD.” 

Below we are searching for "Battens Disease.”

Notice that in the view/edit query box, a list of synonyms appears.

And in the search options box, we can open the folders to reveal that Neurodegenerative diseases that are related to Battens.

Looking at the Data Federation tab, we can see that under the Disease tab there are some results from NINDS.

Displayed are the Name, “What is” the disease, Treatment, Prognosis and Research.

To find out more about the disease we click on the blue link, leading back to the NINDS website, which corresponds to this disease, where we can find additional information about Battens Disease including recruiting clinical trials, and disease specific organizations.
