For more information, visit SynapseWeb or the NeuroLex entry for SynapseWeb
SynapseWeb provides high-quality images of ultrastructural neuroanatomy, including astrocytes, axons, dendrites and synapses. Additionally, they have a repository of tutorials and protocols for producing 3D reconstructions and tissue preparation available here.
We can access images from SynapseWeb’s ultrastructural atlas by performing a general search for neural anatomy. For example, “axon”;
SynapseWeb can be found within the Data Federation, under Nervous System Level > Cellular Level or Data Type > Images.

The search results include an annotated figure, the anatomical structure and the figure legend within the notes column. To launch the record within SynapseWeb, click the anatomical structure link.
